Wool Felted Birdhouse
The market at Devine Wellness and Relaxation just received my favorite Fair Trade item to date. They are wool felted birdhouses and come in a variety of themes.
Besides the cuteness factor, they have other benefits as well. They are handmade and offer a safe and cozy place to nest and rest for your feathered friends.
What kinds of birds will use this for their habitat? The opening is sized at 1.25" for small birds such Chickadee, Nuthatch, Titmouse, Wren, and Downy Woodpeckers. You can enlarge the hole to 1.5" for Bluebirds and Tree Swallows. Another benefit? They are easy to clean by using the opening at the bottom to clean out old nesting material. Brush off loose dirt and rinse with water if needed.
Don’t worry about the elements when hung outside. With being wool felted, they are naturally made to be outside. They are water repellent, dirt-resistant, and durable, these sheep’s wool felted birdhouses will retain their shape for well over a year when fully exposed to the weather. Because felted wool breathes, it will dry quickly after moisture. The bright colors of the cuties will slowly fade if hung in direct sun but in a fully protected or shaded place, the color will last for years.
